Hello! I'm Madison Sneath, the creator of We Will Be Girls. I'm super excited to share that this blog has officially begun!
I want to document and share my life. I hope you can find entertainment and validation by reading my thoughts and experiences as each week moves past.
I’m a new high school graduate– just graduated in June, 2021. I survived through the last year of online schooling due to covid and am eternally grateful that I will never have to endure primary education during a pandemic ever again.
Right now, I’m waiting to ship off to bootcamp to earn the title of a United States Marine.
I am so excited.
On October 25th, I will leave to be a part of the second platoon of females to ever train at Camp Pendleton in San Diego. They are just now integrating women into initial training on the west coast.
For some context, when you enlist in the Marines your location determines where you go to bootcamp. If you are east of the Mississippi river– you go to South Carolina, Parris Island. If you are west of the Mississippi– you go to California, Camp Pendleton. However, if you are female– no matter where you live– you go to Parris Island.
Now, under the National Defense Authorization Act, Congress ordered the Marine Corps to have women fully integrated into their west coast training battalions by 2028.
So, with much enthusiasm I’ll get to live out some G.I. Jane moments.
I’m joining the Corps to play my trumpet. On November 9th, 2020, I passed my audition.

Sobbing tears of pride,

My path will be a 2 week quarantine because of covid, 13 weeks of basic training, 4 weeks of combat training, then 6 months of music school. About halfway through music school, I’ll find out where I’ll be stationed for those next 3 years.
I think this was enough information for now. I’ll talk about different things each time I post here, but I thought the integration of women is very relevant to this umbrella of We Will Be Girls.
